History
The building and its emblematic Virginia creeper we can still see nowadays, used to house a wine press four hundred years ago. And under this building the 17th-century-cellar persists nowadays and it streches under the public place of Vougeot.
La Grande Cave is a must see building in Vougeot. It is also the last remnant of a great Burgundy history, that of the Château de Vougeot built in 1850 by Augustin Grangier. After buying the former seigneurial domain this latter decides to destroy all the buildings and to build instead a sizeable maison de maître called Château de Vougeot.
